"Thanks so much for this wonderful experience. All of the childrenand even all of the teachersare still raving about how wonderful and meaningful their trip was! I have never had so much fun on a field trip like this before. Thank you." — Elida Cossio from Bell #3 Span School

"I had a marvelous time. I learned a lot about what a theatre was. I felt honorable to be at such a great theatre. I never knew it was magical. I thought and felt like I knew that place. It felt very familiar but I think it was my imagination. I want to go back to the theatre again."
— Fourth Grade participant in "Enter Stage Right"

"Enter Stage Right is a revelation. After participating the first time with my kindergartner daughter, I've gone back several times because I love it so much. My wish is that every Los Angeles child (and beyond?) could participate in this program!" — Sandra Tsing Loh, performance artist

ENTER STAGE RIGHT
is an exciting and engaging participatory arts learning program designed to get elementary students out of their seats and onto the stage of a professional theatre. This is accomplished through a series of activities which begin in your classroom then move to the stage for an exciting field trip to the theatre. Your students will experience first hand the magic of the theatre as they explore improvisation, character development, storytelling techniques, costumes, stage lighting, and the centuries-old traditions of the theatre. This program can accommodate 3 classes, maximum 99 people.

ENTER STAGE RIGHT includes the following resources:
• The costs of buses are paid for in our program fees
• A professional, PAID development workshop for the participating teachers at 24th Street Theatre
• An in-class workshop prior to the field trip
• A follow-up post-field trip in-class workshop
• Classroom study guides

FIRST
24th Street Theatre’s Educators will talk with your school’s coordinator or arts cadre leader to determine which three teachers should participate. The in-class workshops and field trip dates will be scheduled at this time.

THEN
24th Street’s Teaching Artists will come to your classrooms for the first in-class workshops for the three classes participating. This will prime your students and prepare them for the upcoming field trip to the theatre.

Our fun professional staff development workshop — yes, you read correctly — will be held at at 24th Street Theatre at a designated time. The three teachers will learn about the LAUSD VAPA standards and learn ideas to incorporate theatre in your classroom.

NEXT

Your students will come to the theatre! Remember BUSES ARE PAID FOR in the program costs for LAUSD Arts Prototype schools. 24th Street Theatre is a professional theatrical venue equipped with full production values; sound, lights, costumes, props and multi-media. Students will learn the language, lore, superstitions and technical capacity of the theatre. They will, through improvisation and guides by theatre arts educators, create scenes using many of the theatre's production components.

FOLLOW-UP
