SANDRA TSING LOH (Writer/Performer) Her last solo show seen in Los Angeles was “Sugar Plum Fairy” at the Geffen Playhouse (also seen at Seattle Rep and San Jose Rep). Her other shows include “Aliens in America” and “Bad Sex With Bud Kemp” (which both ran off-Broadway at Second Stage), and “I Worry” (Woolly Mammoth Theatre at the Kennedy Center, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Santa Fe Stages). Loh's books include A Year in Van Nuys, Aliens in America, Depth Takes a Holiday, and a novel, If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home By Now, which was named by the LA Times as one of the 100 best fction books of 1998. Her story My Father's Chinese Wives received a 1997 Pushcart Prize and was featured in the 1999 Norton Anthology of Short Fiction. She and her husband Mike Miller composed the music for Jessica Yu’s documentary short “Breathing Lessons,” which won an Oscar in 1998. Sandra has been a regular commentator on NPR’s “Morning Edition” and on Ira Glass’ “This American Life;” currently, her weekly segment “The Loh Life” is heard on KPCC and her monthly segment “The Loh Down” is heard on American Public Media’s “Marketplace.” Sandra is currently a contributing editor for The Atlantic Monthly.

DAVID SCHWEIZER (Director) continues with “Mother on Fire,” a joyful collaboration with Sandra Tsing Loh that has produced their New York and Los Angeles hit “Bad Sex With Bud Kemp” and “Aliens in America,” which has toured extensively, as well as “I Worry” and the acclaimed holiday show “Sugar Plum Fairy.” In January, he directed “The Nytrate Hymnal,” a new multi-media opera by Robert Massey and David Wilson for the Washington Performing Arts Series, and his production of Lisa Loomer’s “The Waiting Room” was a critical and audience triumph at Arena Stage several seasons ago. His production of Rinde Eckert’s opera “And God Created Great Whales” received an Obie Award in 2002. Most recently, he staged an acclaimed production of the musical “Honk” at Minneapolis Children’s Theatre, Charles Mee’s “Wintertime” in New York, “Whales” in London, a world premiere production of Matthew Deegan’s “Hysterex” in Los Angeles, and Offenbach’s “La Perichole” at Long Beach Opera. David has directed new theater, performance and opera work nationally and internationally for 25 years and has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

BART DeLORENZO (Director) is Artistic Director of the Evidence Room in Los Angeles. Now in his 10th season, he has directed and/or produced over 40 productions including world premieres by Kelly Stuart, Gordon Dahlquist, John Steppling, Peter J. Nieves, Ken Roht, and Michael Sargent, among others. He has participated in the development of new works at the Mark Taper Forum’s New Work Festival, A.S.K. Theater Projects, the Ojai Playwrights Conference, Madison Repertory, and the California Institute of the Arts. For his work, he has received three LA Weekly awards for Production and Direction and three BackStage Garland awards for Production, Adaptation, and “Local Hero” Director.

JERRY BUSZEK (Scenic Designer) is thrilled to be working with the happiest colors on earth for “Mother on Fire.” His past efforts in scenic design and/or build are “Hollywood Hellhouse”, “Funny Business,” “Groovaloo,” “Weight on the Roof,” and “Blue Dove.” Not one of them used the paint color “Atomic Vomit Green.”

MICHAEL GEND (Lighting Designer) has been designing in the L.A. and San Fernando Valley over the past 5 years. Recent local credits in the area include “Barefoot in the Park” at The Complex, “Julie” and “Guys & Dolls” at Pierce College, and “The Ball Game” directed by Bart DeLorenzo at CalArts. Michael is an alum of CalArts and currently teaches theatre at Pierce College, California Lutheran University, and Pepperdine University.

JOHN ZALEWSKI (Sound Designer) In Los Angeles includes “One Flea Spare,” “The Berlin Circle,” “The Blacks” at Evidence Room, “Salomé; Self Defense,” “Blood! Love! Madness!” at Actors’Gang, “Kate Crackernuts” at 24th Street Theatre, “War Music” at Geffen, “Light” at Boston Court. In NYC includes: “Speed Hedda” at LaMama and “Pandora’s Last Xmas” at chashama. He is an NEA/TCG career development grant recipient. Awards: €ve L.A. Weekly Awards, nine Backstage West Garlands and one Ovation. He’s co-designing video for Mike Schlitt’s “Indian Adventure” in Edgefest with Raul Enriquez and just opened “Blood is My Legacy!” at art/works.

MICHAEL MASUCCI (Video Designer) is an award-winning producer, director and digital artist whose work has been seen on BRAVO, the BBC and PBS; as well as in the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the Institute of Contemporary Art (London) and the American Film Institute, who honored Masucci and his production company EZTV (a pioneering digital art group) with a career retrospective. He has produced work throughout the U.S. as well as in China, Finland, the U.K., Thailand and Mexico.

JEREMY BRYDEN (Technical Director) has recently worked at the Colony Theatre Company, The Boston Court, A Noise Within, The Falcon, The Rubicion, The Wadsworth, Civic Light Opera of South Bay City and numerous production companies in L.A. Jeremy attended Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy for two years. He is excited to be working at 24th Street Theatre and looks forward to the upcoming year.

MICHELLE GANINO (Production Stage Manager) returns to 24th Street Theatre where she helped inaugurate the space with “The Music of Magdalena Bay,” “Nightingale and the Rose,” “Poe: Out of His Mind” and “Mad Boy Chronicles.” Her other shows include “The Snow Maiden” (Odyssey); “The Stand-In” and “Love, Lies and Cereal!” (Hudson Backstage); and “American Has-Been” (HBO Workspace). She has script supervised various and sundry shorts in her spare time.

ERIC CHI (Stage Manager) was born and raised in Los Angeles where he started in Children's Theatre as a stage manager and later became familiar with 24th Street Theatre in 1997. Within that time, he has had the opportunity to work with many different independent theater groups in and around the community.

KEN WERTHER PUBLICITY (Press Representative) Ken is currently employed full-time in the Center Theatre Group press of€ce (Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson and Kirk Douglas Theatres). Theatrical publicity credits include “42nd Street;” “Beauty and the Beast;” “Forever Plaid;” “After-Play;” “The 24th Day” starring Noah Wyle and Peter Berg; “Sylvia; I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change;” Sir Ian McKellen’s “A Knight Out In Los Angeles;” “Master Class” starring Faye Dunaway; “Sweet Charity” starring Debbie Allen; Sandra Tsing Loh’s “Bad Sex With Bud Kemp” and “Aliens In America.” Ken is currently also representing The Blank Theatre Company’s production of “The Wild Party,” and also serves on The Blank’s board of advisors.

YING LE (Associate Producer) has been working with 24th Street Theatre for over four years in a variety of positions. She recently associate produced “Dry Cleaning” (nominated for two Ovation Awards) and “Mirror Mirror.” Upcoming projects include producing the annual “Saturday Explorer Series” and seeking enlightenment. A graduate of the USC Annenberg School for Communication, Ying also works for the Music Center, in the Education Division.

DEBBIE DEVINE (Producer) is a co-founder of 24th Street Theatre, a writer and a director. As 24th Street’s Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) Director, she creates professional mainstage TYA productions and educational theatre programming for all ages. Debbie also heads the Theatre Department at the prestigious Colburn School of Performing Arts and at the Poseidon School for at-risk teens. She won the USC School of Education’s 1999 Innovation and Leadership Award and has LA Weekly Awards, Dramalogue Awards, and Robbies on her wall.

JAY McADAMS (Producer) is a co-founder of 24th Street Theatre and has been its Executive Director since 1999. He has produced many successful shows and events since his beginning in Los Angeles theatre nearly 20 years ago. Though most of Jay’s theatre work now is behind the scenes, he began in theatre as an actor, having graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Jay is the winner of the prestigious University of Southern California School of Education’s 1999 Innovation and Leadership Award for his work in Arts Education.

FRIER McCOLLISTER (Producer) is an independent producer and manager, based in Los Angeles. He is proud to be maintaining his successful collaboration with Ms. Loh and Mr. Schweizer that began with the west coast premieres of Ms. Loh’s “Bad Sex With Bud Kemp” and “Aliens in America” (Tiffany, Seattle Rep, San Jose Rep). He served as co-producer with Woolly Mammoth Theatre Co, for the world premiere and subsequent co-productions of Ms. Loh’s “I Worry” (Kennedy Center, Santa Fe Stages, Actors Theatre of Louisville) as well as the world premiere and respective subsequent co-productions of Ms. Loh’s holiday spectacle “Sugar Plum Fairy” (Seattle Rep, Geffen Playhouse, San Jose Rep). Most recently he produced the world premiere of the free-style hip-hop dance hit “Groovaloo” at the Falcon Theatre, which will receive its off-Broadway premiere in the fall of 2006.
