Theatre Movement Bazaar's Tina Kronis and Richard Alger collaborate
with Jeff Webster of the Builders Association to present this
work-in-progress production of DRY CLEANING, a performance
work utilizing fragments of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth
to explore the subterranean world of identity. This work-in-progress
production of three performances is being presented by 24th
Street Theatre. The premiere production will take place in
the fall of 2004.
Theatre Movement Bazaar is a company dedicated to creating
original performance works. They merge movement, text, sound
and design from diverse sources into a complex performance.
TMB co-founders, Tina Kronis and Richard Alger, began working
together in 1997, and since 1999 have created and produced
eight original productions in Los Angeles (most recently,
dumbshow, Cirque Picnique, and Strange Beliefs)

2. TOP TEN OF 2003
Congrats to our own Alejandro Patino, who was recognized as
one of reviewplays.com's Top Ten Male Performances of 2003
for 24th Street Theatre's production of Juan Devis' Tropical
America last summer.
Read the "Tropical America" review!
Tropical America was our first fully produced production from
our TEATRO NUEVO Latino Theater Initiative. Thanks to California
Community Foundation for supporting our first Teatro project,
and to LAs Dept. of Cultural Affairs for funding this
years Teatro project, a series of Spanish language staged
readings and community events.

3.
JUICE by Jay McAdams
Anthony White lived and died on 24th Street. In the neighborhood,
he was known as Juice, because he drank so much. Our audiences
and even our artists were often afraid of him. Tattooed and
scarred, he was the real deal from the streets and he looked
it.
But one had to look beyond his tough guy facade to understand
his true depth. We recognized how special he was and always
welcomed him into our home, just as he had welcomed us into
the neighborhood eight years ago. He was not only a fixture
who came to our performances, watched our classes, and hung
out in our lobby talking philosophy, but he helped teach us
what would ultimately come to set 24th Street Theatre apart
from other small theatres in L.A.
He taught us that we need to do more than just plays. That
if we are truly to be a full service non-profit arts organization,
we must put our money where our mouths are and really serve
our community, not just with art, but also with humanity.
He taught us to take the time to sit and talk, with Anthony...and
Jesse...and Kiki... To minister, not religiously, but merely
by listening, by being human together, by simply opening our
doors and our hearts to the street.
After all, what is theatre about if not humanity? Anthony
was a piece of us. Our poster child, in a sense. He helped
define who we are. And today we are a stronger arts organization
because of Juice. For that we will always be grateful to him.
Exeunt Anthony.
