Expanding Our Resident Teaching Artist Bench: Hiring Theatre Teachers for the 2024 school year

24th Street Theatre has long been considered by LA County educators as one of the leaders in arts education. 24th Street is looking to hire a few great teaching artists to teach sequential, school day, after school and/or summer school theatre classes at school sites. With our guidance, teaching artists will each design a theatre curriculum for students with varied experience with the artform of theatre. Classes may take place at 24th Street Theatre or at school sites.

We believe that teaching is a performing art, and we are looking for experienced theatre Teaching Artists who are dynamic and skilled. The ideal candidate is funny, warm, passionate, and can keep kids engaged and excited while teaching them about this magical art form. We seek to form long and mutually beneficial relationships with our teaching artists for years to come. 

We are looking for teaching artists who are available to work consistently throughout the 23/24 school year.

  • Someone with reliable transportation as TAs must be able to work at multiple school sites all over LA County

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus but not required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years minimum experience teaching elementary and/or middle school age students in theatre

  • Pass a DOJ background check

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccine required

  • Must have a car and valid CA driver’s license

Pay is $55/ hour for teaching plus $16.78/hour for meetings, training and planning.
